SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from June 30, 2025 through July 6, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.

Seymour police received 295 calls for service and made four arrests between June 30, 2025 and July 6, 2025.

JUNE 30, 2025
8:54 a.m. Police were called about a tractor trailer that got stuck under the trestle on South Main Street.
12:28 p.m. An Elaine Drive resident told police someone on a two-wheel scooter knocked on her door and pulled on her door handle several times. Police said the person was a solicitor.
3:59 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement on Holbrook Road and issued an infraction to a driver.
6:37 p.m. Police received a 911 hangup call from the Subway parking lot on Derby Avenue. Police confirmed it was an accidental call.
9:19 p.m. A Walnut Street resident told police there was smoke coming from inside his house. The fire department was notified.
10:00 p.m. Police charged a 52-year-old Ansonia man with violation of a protective order and violation of probation.

JULY 1, 2025
9:42 a.m. Police received a report of low hanging wires in the road near Maple and Walnut streets. Frontier was notified and the wires were cut and placed off the roadway.
10:03 a.m. An officer issued a driver an infraction at the Derby Avenue ramp to Route 8 north.
1:12 p.m. A caller told police he believed he was being followed by a man wearing a plaid shirt and jeans on the trails of the Fountain Lake park area, and requested an officer for assistance. Police said the individual was just walking the trail and there were no issues.
4:23 p.m. A Jupiter Drive resident told police a man dressed in a blue shirt, pants and a hat was attempting to open her door. Police said the man was gone upon their arrival.
5:15 p.m. A Gilyard Street resident told police he was receiving death threats over the phone. An officer said the phone calls were a scam and provided advice to the resident.
6:42 p.m. A caller told police a deer ran into the side of his truck on Squantuck Road.
10:15 p.m. Police received an anonymous complaint about underage drinking happening at a home on Colony Road. An officer spoke with the residents and said there was no evidence of a party going on and no evidence of alcohol on the scene.
10:38 p.m. A MacConnie Court resident complained to police about his neighbor’s dog barking on South Benham Road.

JULY 2, 2025
2:21 a.m. A West Street resident told police she believed someone was flashing a green laser through the front window of her home. An officer checked the area and found nothing.
5:40 a.m. A Chaden Road resident requested police assistance about a verbal dispute between her and her son.
8:57 a.m. A Steep Hill Road resident told police she was concerned about a neighbor standing at the end of the road and possibly shooting at turkeys. An officer canvassed the area and found the noise issue was the result of a blown transformer. Eversource was notified.
9:07 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Derby Avenue and Bungay Road. No injuries were reported.
12:11 p.m. A Patrick Road resident told police he was being threatened on Facebook.
8:27 p.m. A caller told police her ex-husband locked her out their house on Bungay Terrace.
10:55 p.m. A caller reported a man was sleeping on the front steps of St. Augustine’s Church on Washington Avenue. Police said the man was gone upon their arrival.

JULY 3, 2025
7:37 a.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a Garden Street resident who said someone hacked into his bank account and stole all his money. While in the police department lobby, the man’s money reappeared in his account, and police advised the man to check with his bank.
2:38 p.m. A large tree branch was blocking the road at Great Hill Road and Skyline Terrace. The state Department of Transportation was notified to remove the tree.
4:24 pm. A Maple Street resident told police she was being threatened. Police provided the woman with advice.
5:21 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 25 minutes on Maple Street and Warren Drive and issued one infraction.
7:12 p.m. A Smith Street resident asked police about obtaining a restraining order against one of her neighbors.
7:21 p.m. Police responded to an alarm going off at the rear loading dock of Seymour Middle School on Mountain Road.
10:50 p.m. Police charged a 37-year-old Seymour man with illegal possession of fireworks, illegal sale of fireworks, failure to store a firearm, disorderly conduct and interfering with an emergency call.

JULY 4, 2025
12 a.m. A caller told police someone backed into his car at the gas pump at Henny Penny on New Haven Road.
5:12 a.m. State Police Troop I requested police assistance for a man dressed in hospital scrubs walking in and out of traffic on Route 8. Police located the man near Exit 17 north.
9:54 a.m. Police received a complaint about a homeless man sleeping on the Seymour Historical property on West Street.
12:31 p.m. Police received a call from a Moss Avenue resident who was bitten by a German Shepherd.
1:57 p.m. Police received a medical call about a child choking on West Church Street.
2:01 p.m. A 911 call was received by police by someone who said his phone accidentally dialed 911 while he was mowing the lawn.
4:38 p.m. An erratic driver was reported in the area of Fountain Lake and Great Hill Road. Police said the car was gone upon their arrival.
9:42 p.m. A caller reported illegal fireworks were being deployed in the area of West and Beecher streets and was concerned about something catching on fire. Police were unable to locate anyone shooting off fireworks in the area.
10:30 p.m. Police charged a 35-year-old Seymour man with second-degree breach of peace and assault of an elderly victim.

JULY 5, 2025
12:51 a.m. A Brookdale Road resident told police someone was playing loud music and yelling and requested an officer to make the noise stop.
11:51 a.m. A caller reported someone was parked in a handicapped parking space on Franklin Street without a handicapped sticker.
12:26 p.m. A Brookdale Road resident told police he believed he was the victim of identify theft.
6:41 p.m. A Derby Avenue resident told police her ex-boyfriend’s wife was harassing her.
7:34 p.m. A Housatonic Terrace resident told police his girlfriend bleached all his clothes and was trying to evict him from the property.
10:22 p.m. Police received a complaint about loud music coming from a home on South Main Street. Police advised the homeowner to turn the music down.

JULY 6, 2025
2:30 a.m. Police received a complaint about illegal fireworks being set off on Kathy Drive.
10:50 a.m. A 911 caller told police two people were fighting outside of Rooster’s garden/landscaping business on New Haven Road. Police said the individuals were gone upon their arrival.
11:54 a.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 30 minutes on Roosevelt Drive and issued no tickets.
12:40 p.m. A Molsick Road resident told police a neighbor hit her dog.
4:53 p.m. A Skokorat Street resident told police he was involved in a road rage incident during which an individual followed him to his son’s house. The resident told police the man sat on his curb in front of his house and refused to leave. The two exchanged words but there was no physical confrontation. The resident told police he wanted the incident documented in case the man returned to his son’s property.
8:14 p.m. Police received a medical call about a young girl who fell off her scooter and sustained a head injury in the area of Emma and West Church streets.
9:03 a.m. Police received a noise complaint from the Balance Rock Road apartments. The caller told police a neighbor’s TV or radio was too loud and was preventing his young children from being able to sleep.
