SHELTON – A 32-year-old city resident whose arrest was aided by a sex worker pleaded guilty in federal court July 28 to receiving and distributing child pornography.
Burnest Geyer, Jr., now faces between five and 20 years in prison. His sentencing date was not scheduled as of July 28.
According to an arrest warrant, Geyer contacted an adult content creator online and asked if she was into child pornography. The creator contacted police while continuing to converse with Geyer. Eventually Geyer showed her child pornography video and images, which she screen recorded to show police.
The interaction happened in the summer of 2024.
Law enforcement was able to use the information from the creator, in part, in order to get a search warrant for Geyer’s Shelton residence.
Through an analysis of the Telegram app on his iPhone, police said they found more than 3,000 images and videos “depicting child pornography, including the sexual abuse of infants and toddlers,” according to a statement from Connecticut U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan’s office.
Geyer was arrested in October 2024.
“The investigation further revealed that Geyer engaged in dozens of conversations with others on Telegram and WhatsApp regarding his interest in the sexual abuse of minors, and offered to pay adult content creators to sexually exploit their children over video calls with him,” according to the statement.
The investigation was handled by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) with help from the Bridgeport Police Department and the Shelton Police Department. The case was being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel P. Gordon.
