Donald A. Taylor, age 84, of Southbury, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Danbury Hospital. He is the beloved husband and best friend of 63 years to Monika T. (Hudlet) Taylor. Don was born on August 23, 1940, in Covington. Va., the son of the late George H. Taylor and Glenna (Hite) Taylor Christian, and resided in Southbury for the past 47 years.
Besides his wife, Don is survived by his beloved and devoted son, Donald G. Taylor, his wife Andrea, and loving granddaughter, Anna, of Southbury. Don also leaves his loving niece, Sherry Tynan, her husband, Joe Ski, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and a brother, Ronald C. Taylor and family of Henniker, NH. Also missing him will be his faithful and constant companion, Oreo.
Don was raised in Shelton, CT, and was captain of the basketball and baseball teams, Class of 1958. He was a five year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, USAFSS, stationed in Japan and Germany. He was a proud member of the CT State Police Department. Don retired following twenty-one years of service in 1988 after serving primarily in narcotics law enforcement during his career. Don always had a ready smile, a sense of humor and enjoyed his Budweiser. He loved sports of all sorts and played at the game of golf. He will be sorely missed by his many friends.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday, August 15th, from 5 to 7 PM. On Saturday his funeral service will begin in the parlor at 10 AM. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.
