SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Aug. 12, 2025 through Aug. 18, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.

Seymour police received 248 calls for service and made four arrests between Aug. 12, 2025 and Aug. 18, 2025.

AUG. 12, 2025

9:26 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident on Maple Street.

12:30 p.m. Police were called to a medical emergency at Klarides Village.

12:51 p.m. Police assisted an Amazon truck driver on Roosevelt Drive who was pulled over due to his brakes overheating.

3:35 p.m. A report was received about someone driving erratically on New Haven Road (Route 67) and then pulling into a self-storage parking lot. Police said the driver was gone upon their arrival.

5:38 p.m. A Patton Avenue resident told police a female beagle was roaming around the area and she was able to secure the dog while animal control was notified.

AUG. 13, 2025

12:41 a.m. Police conducted a routine safety check of French Memorial Park on Spruce Street.

4:13 p.m. Police were called to a medical emergency on Summer Brook Way.

5:27 p.m. A caller told police she was concerned for the safety of several juveniles riding bikes and weaving in and out of traffic near the intersection of Broad and River streets.

7:24 p.m. A Jay Lane resident told police some stole a refrigerator from his carport.

9:30 p.m. Police removed chairs that were blocking the road at the intersection of Bungay Road and Derby Avenue.

AUG. 14, 2025

3 a.m. A South Main Street resident told police several juveniles were making a lot of noise and playing in the middle of the street. An officer said the youths were playing football and were advised to go home.

5:53 a.m. Police conducted a routine safety check of Gary Park.

3:25 p.m. A Roosevelt Drive resident told police she was threatened by her ex-daughter-in-law.

4:33 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 20 minutes on Maple Street and made no motor vehicle stops.

7:50 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 20 minutes near Maple and Pearl streets and made one motor vehicle stop.

AUG. 15, 2025

12:05 a.m. Police conducted a routine safety check at the town dog park on Moss Avenue.

2:53 a.m. Police were notified about a downed tree blocking the road near Elm and Walnut streets.

3:32 a.m. A MacConnie Court resident told police about an ongoing issue with his neighbor’s dog on South Benham Road who was barking outside again, waking up the neighborhood. An officer said the dog was not outside upon his arrival.

10:25 a.m. Police charged a 43-year-old Seymour woman with second-degree failure to appear.

11 a.m. A Spruce Street resident reported a case of credit card fraud.

3:51 p.m. A caller told police the traffic light in front of CVS on West Street was stuck on red for 10 minutes. Police said they checked the light and said it was cycling normally.

5:48 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on West Street.

AUG. 16, 2025

12:05 a.m. Police checked on a car with its flashers on pulled over in a closed parking lot on New Haven Road (Route 67). The driver told police she pulled over to use her phone.

1:23 a.m. Police conducted a routine safety check of Seymour Middle School on Mountain Road.

1:50 a.m. Police charged a 37-year-old Naugatuck woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.

12:50 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver near the intersection of Old Ansonia Road and Maple Street.

2:17 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident on Woodside Avenue.

5:04 p.m. A Great Hill Road resident said an unreasonable amount of noise was coming from a home in the area. An officer advised the resident to keep the music down.

AUG. 17, 2025

1 a.m. Police charged a 58-year-old Seymour woman with disorderly conduct.

1:50 a.m. A caller told police someone in a passing vehicle threw water balloons at her vehicle in the Maple Street area.

8:12 a.m. A Chestnut Street resident told police her son threw her keys at her because she would not drive him to work.

3:43 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 20 minutes on Roosevelt Drive and made no motor vehicle stops.

5:14 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 20 minutes on Botsford Road and made no motor vehicle stops.

6:28 p.m. Police were called about two dogs locked inside a car in the Stop & Shop parking lot and was concerned about the dogs’ well-being. Police said the dogs did not appear to be in distress but made contact with the owner and advised them not to leave the dogs in the car.

7:30 p.m. Police charged a 64-year-old Seymour man with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault.

AUG. 18, 2025

2:59 a.m. Police responded to a report of suspicious activity at Gary Park. An officer said an individual at the park told him he was homeless. The officer advised the individual the park was closed and he left without incident.
