Rose M. Bauer, 91, passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2025, surrounded by her family. Rose was a devoted wife to her husband, Walter, for 73 years. They met 75 years ago in Lead, South Dakota. She retired from BIC and lived each day to the fullest.
Rose was born in Lead, SD on December 2, 1933 daughter of the late George and Mary (Bensko) Odrlin. She moved to Connecticut in 1955 and settled in Ansonia in 1960.
Rose was an avid UCONN Girls Basketball fan, who loved travelling the world with Walt. She passed down many family traditions including annual Christmas Cookie and Pastie baking, and was always present for her grandchildren’s events. She enjoyed Silver Sneakers classes and made several friends there. She will always be remembered for her potato salad, her love of flowers and gardening, bird watching and her dislike of cheese.
She is survived by her children; Barbara Stanley (Wayne) of Charlestown, RI, Steven Bauer of Redwood City, CA, Stacy Anglace (Ted) of Oxford, CT, Sandra Rocks (Michael) of Berlin, CT, and David Bauer (Ken) of Richmond, VA, her sister Jacqueline Pavich of Stratford, CT. Her 6 grandchildren Jessica Chidester, Sarah Rocks, Emily Anglace, Hailey Rocks, Evan Anglace and Ben Anglace, and 3 great grandchildren Eli, TJ and Tristan. She was predeceased by her grandson George A. Passander, and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at Bennett Funeral Home, 91 N Cliff St Ansonia CT, on August 30, 2025, at 9:30 AM. In Lieu of Flowers, donations in Rose’s name can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
