Richard E. Wagner, age 81, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into rest on Monday, August 25, 2025 in his home with his family by his side. He is the beloved husband of 55 years of Roberta (Felice) Wagner. Richard was born to the late Raymond and Isabelle (Beatty) Wagner on May 15, 1944, in Indiana, PA, where he was raised.
He attended Case Western University and earned a degree in Physics. Richard had a long career as a Systems Information Manager for Sikorsky Aircraft before his retirement. He was an avid reader, nature lover, and a devoted family man with a great deal of wisdom, wit, and grace that we will all miss.
Richard is the beloved father of Matthew Wagner and his wife Penelope, Daniel Wagner and Laura, and Amy Wagner-Sack and Adam Sack, and the proud grandfather of Isabella, Juliana, Jocelyn, Josephina, and Daniel Wagner, and Owen and Oliver Sack. He also leaves a dear cousin, Jim Wagner and his wife MaryAnn.
Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 9 AM to 10:30 AM. His funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM in the parlor. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peters Cemetery in Derby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to Griffin Hospital.
