
SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Sept. 1, 2025 through Sept. 7, 2025.
It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.
Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.
Seymour police received 266 calls for service and made four arrests between Sept. 1, 2025 and Sept. 7, 2025.
SEPT. 1, 2025
12:07 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement using radar on Botsford Road. No violations were observed.
1:10 a.m. Police issued a written warning to a driver on Canfield Road.
3:59 a.m. A caller told police her daughter was missing, and believed she was with a friend in Ansonia. The caller could not get hold of her daughter because her phone was dead. Prior to police arrival, the caller called back and told police her daughter had returned home.
11:36 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor, two-car accident on Bank Street.
12:22 p.m. A caller reported two youths on bikes were throwing rocks at the former Board of Education building on Bank Street. The youth’s parents were contacted.
4:18 p.m. A Skokorat Street resident told police her ex-husband left behind two “rockets,” and she wanted them out of the house. An officer said the rockets were toys and the homeowner said she would dispose of them.
SEPT. 2, 2025
8:53 a.m. A Samantha Street resident told police a large, blue propane container was blocking the road. Police removed the container from the road and notified the Public Works Department.
12:50 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of Jerry’s Market on New Haven Road (Route 67).
3:51 p.m. An employee with All-Star Bus Transportation told police a car was blocking the road at Gilyard Street and Highland Avenue, and the bus couldn’t get out. Police said the car was moved and the bus was able to get out.
6:44 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident on Roosevelt Drive. No injuries were reported.
6:58 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call. The caller told police the phone fell out of his car and accidentally dialed 911.
SEPT. 3, 2025
12:40 a.m. Police were sent to Seymour High School on Botsford Road for an alarm where motion was detected near the machine shop. Police said the area was secure.
12:42 a.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a resident who said his wife wouldn’t give him his car keys so he could go to work.
7:40 a.m. An employee with All Star Bus Transportation told police Bus 43 couldn’t continue down Westermann Avenue because cars were blocking both sides of the road. Police said the vehicles were moved prior to their arrival.
9:45 a.m. Police were called about a verbal dispute at a residence on Maple Street.
11:18 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Derby Avenue near the Route 8 Exit 19 ramp.
12:49 p.m. An employee of a Progress Avenue business told police an employee who had just been let go returned to the business and was spitting on the windows. An officer informed the ex-employee he was not allowed to trespass there.
2:59 p.m. A store manager at Stop & Shop on Franklin Street told police three juveniles rode their bikes inside the store and were causing issues. Police said the youths were gone upon their arrival.
5:55 p.m. Police charged a 58-year-old Beacon Falls woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
SEPT. 4, 2025
12:15 a.m. Police were called to assist with a medical emergency on Chamberlain Road. A caller reported that she believed her boyfriend was overdosing. Police called EMS to assist.
2:40 a.m. An employee of the Henny Penny gas station told police several cars were parked at one of the gas pumps for more than a hour.
4:33 a.m. Police were sent to Chatfield School on Skokorat Street for an alarm going off in one of the classrooms. Police said the building was secure.
7:20 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver at Bank and West streets.
7:43 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on South Main Street.
4:52 p.m. A passerby told police she saw a two-year old roaming alone near Spruce Street. The caller told police she stayed with the child until police could arrive. The child’s grandmother and the grandmother’s 13-year-old granddaughter were watching the child at the time. The 13-year-old told police she wasn’t paying attention for one minute and the child let himself out the back door of the house. Family members were advised of the situation and there were no further issues.
SEPT. 5, 2025
11:23 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on New Haven Road (Route 67).
11:52 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver at Bank and West streets.
2:28 p.m. An employee with Allstate Trucking school told police he received a threatening phone call from a former student.
4:20 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Derby Avenue.
4:52 p.m. A caller told police a man wearing a blue shirt and pushing a cart in the middle of the road near Franklin Street appeared confused. An officer checked on the man and said he was okay.
7:45 p.m. A Walnut Street resident told police a solicitor knocked on her door twice in the same evening while she was not home and requested police check the area. Police said the solicitor was gone upon their arrival.
8:21 p.m. A caller told police a female was walking along a dark section of Roosevelt Drive near the river, and he was concerned for her safety. Police said the woman was gone upon their arrival.
SEPT. 6, 2025
8:14 a.m. The owner of a Bank Street coffee shop told police someone with Florida license plates was parked in front of his business for more than two hours.
11:30 a.m. A Shelton Street resident told police someone was driving a black car up and down the road at a high rate of speed. Police said the car was gone upon their arrival.
12:52 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of Klarides Village on Bank Street.
2:46 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver at Bank and Martha streets.
5:03 p.m. Police received a 911 hang up call from a Birchwood Road residence. The resident told police her son was playing with her phone and confirmed it was an accident.
7:25 p.m. Police charged a 48-year-old Seymour man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
9:32 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a man who said he lost his wallet at the Dunkin Donuts in the Tri-Town Plaza on Derby Avenue.
SEPT. 7, 2025
12:09 a.m. A caller told police there were two suspicious vehicles parked after hours at French Memorial Park on Spruce Street. An officer advised the parties to leave.
8:26 a.m. Police received a report of a tree partially blocking the road on Patton Avenue.
10:06 a.m. Police issued a verbal warning to a driver at Bank Street and Old Drive.
12:20 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Mountain Road.
5:18 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on West Street.
7:48 p.m. Police were sent to a South Main Street business for an alarm. Police said the building was secure.
