Alexander “Big Al” Lucuk, 75, of Naugatuck, beloved husband of the late Joan (McEwen) Lucuk, and the devoted partner of Ramona Shea, entered peaceful rest in his home on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

Born in Derby, CT, on December 30, 1949, he was the son of the late Peter, Sr. and Irene “Minnie” (Husti) Lucuk. Al was the proud Owner and Proprietor of Al’s Hot Dogs, a landmark along Route 8 for nearly 50 years where generations of families gathered, and where his family worked alongside him in building a true community staple.

Al was known for his big personality, work ethic, quick wit, ability to connect with people of all walks of life, and love of competition. To his family he passed down countless lessons – above all, the importance of making a plan and working your plan. He was almost impossible to beat on the golf course with his deadly hot dog putter, and he especially cherished spending time with family at his lake house.

In addition to his loving partner, Al leaves behind his children, Alexandria Lucuk of MA, Jessica Hopkins and husband Greg of NH, Ivan Lucuk and wife Marisa of Trumbull, and Ryan Schumacher and wife Allison of RI; his brother, Peter Lucuk, Jr. and wife Brenda of DE; and chosen protege Chris Maksymiw and wife Nicole of Trumbull. He was the proud grandfather of Ellie, Gia, Elijah, Jenna, Annika, Myla, Madelyn, Kelsey, Brady, Aubrey, and Lily.

Al will be remembered for his larger-than-life presence, devotion to family, and the joy he brought to so many through friendship and the comfort of a well-prepared meal.

In accordance with Al’s wishes, a private service for immediate family was held this past weekend, respectfully arranged by The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour, CT, 06483. For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit www.hullfh.com.
