Elaine B. DiCicco, 82, of Shelton, CT sadly left us on September 15, 2025.
She was born on November 19, 1942 in Red Bank, New Jersey and was raised in South River, New Jersey with her 2 sisters before she later moved to Shelton, Connecticut.
She graduated with a B.A. in Nursing and an M.A. in Counseling from University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT. She had a prolific 50-year career as a Registered Nurse, which began at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in West Haven, CT.
At St. Raphael Hospital’s School of Nursing, Elaine was a nursing educator. She later moved to Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT, serving as a Co-Director of Education.
Later in her career, Elaine attended the University of Connecticut, where she became a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. She served as the Director of Administration at Bethel Nursing Home before returning to the Veteran’s Administration Hospital as a Case Manager for patients with spinal cord injuries.
While Elaine’s professional life was serious by nature, she filled her personal life with fun and games any way she could. She loved dressing up in clever costumes for every holiday on the calendar, and her nails were never decorated in boring ways. She loved tap dancing and being a “front row diva” in Zumba classes. She never turned down a ticket to a show, or a chance to win big on a slot machine at the casino.
She was known to many as Lanie and E, but also as Auntie Lane and Bubbie. She was selfless, patient, funny, wise, witty, and kind. Elaine was a devoted daughter who took tremendous care of her parents well into their 90s, and long after her nursing career was over, she continued to be the go-to for all things medical in the family. No time of day was too late or too early for a call; she was an energizer bunny in every way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Rosen and her brother-in-law Hershey Rozen. She is survived by her ever-loving husband of 57 years Donald, her built-in best friends, sisters Bonnie Rozen and Suanne Rosen (Martin Zimmermann),and her step-daughter, Marianne Saucier (Alan). She was the beloved aunt of Rachel, Brittany, and Arielle Rozen, and the Bubbie of Maxwell Saucier. She also leaves behind many cherished cousins and friends.
Elaine was larger than life, and it was a life lived to the fullest. She will be deeply missed.
“Goodnight, Gracie. Love ya bunches! Voldemort!”
