DERBY — Authorities are trying to figure out how a dog wound up dead in a duffle bag on Sixth Street.

The information was shared Nov. 15 to Facebook by Shelton Animal Control. The post said the dog was found in a “men’s black suit duffle type bag” alongside a building. The post did not include what time or date the discovery was made.
The dog was a pit bull/Frenchie/Boston Terrier mix, according to the post. The dog, an unneutered male, was mostly tan with white patches on his body and face. He was medium sized, and had a nylon black collar with a zip tie connected.
“We are very sad to have to report this but we are looking for the public’s help,” the post read.
Sixth Street connects Hawthorne Avenue to Elizabeth Street in west Derby.
