Dr. Pierluigi Marignani of Oxford Greens, Oxford Ct died peacefully with his family by his side. He was born on June 20 1934 in Rome, Italy. He was the son of the late Lily (Stahl) Marignani and the late Gualtiero Marignani of Rome, Italy.

He graduated from University of Rome Italy as a medical Doctor and also in the field of Gastroenterology in 1960. Dr  Marignani served in the Army in Italy and also was the medical doctor in the Italian Navy serving on 2 ships the Amerigo Vespucci and the Corsaro. He then moved to the United States in 1970 and went through medical school again getting medical degrees in medicine and the specialty of Gastroenterology. Dr Marignani was also a graduate of Yale University where he held a title of Professor.

Dr Marignani started his own practice in Gastroenterology in Ansonia, Ct in the early 1980’s. He was on staff at Griffin Hospital in Gastroenterology for 30 years.

Dr. Marignani loved being a doctor and doing the best for his patients. He also enjoyed being able to teach his GI fellows and sharing the knowledge and experience he had in the field. Through the years he made many special connections with his students and stayed in touch with some throughout the years enjoying to hear of their successes in life as Gastroenterologists.

During his journey in life he met his wife and best friend Patricia and they shared 28 years together enjoying each other’s company and their travels to Italy and other countries. Pierluigi also loved to cook and was famous for his homemade lasagna and pizza. He loved his family, his children, stepchildren and grandchildren.

Dr Marignani leaves behind his wife Patricia (Jadach) Marignani, his son Matteo Marignani of Thomaston Ct, his daughter Marta Marignani Austin and her husband Rex Austin of Atlanta  Georgia, his stepson Christopher Kane and his wife Mardi Kane of Seymour, Ct., stepdaughter Tricia Palmer and husband Brian Palmer of Killingworth Ct. Three grandchildren, Max Leo of Atlanta, Georgia and Brendan and Madison Palmer of Killingworth, Ct. he also leaves behind his nieces and nephews in Italy. Dr was predeceased by his brother Gianfranco Marignani from Albano Italy and his sister Erica Marignani Uva from Rome, Italy. Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 NOON at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Griffin Hospital Development Fund.
