Carl J. Rella, age 89 of Woodbridge and previously of Beacon Falls, beloved husband of the late Rafaela “Rae” (Vestuti) Rella, entered peaceful rest with family by his side on Monday, January 5, 2026 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in the Bronx, NY, on July 25, 1936, he was the son of the late Philip and Minnie (Caputo) Rella.
A route salesman for Entemann’s Bakery for over 30 years, Carlo loved his job and the friendships he made while working at Entemann’s. He was proud being a Bronx native, and was an avid NY Yankee and NY Giant fan. He and Rae loved their trips to Europe, Canada, Atlantic City, Florida, as well as cruising and bus trips to Mohegan Sun, and they could often be found on the dance floor together. Carlo also enjoyed golfing and family dinners. He would often say, “Dessert before AND after dinner.” Carlo loved spending time with people and telling stories of the “old days”. But above all else, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his children; Phillip Rella North Haven, Nancy Brodesser and her husband Andy of Prospect, and Carol Gendron of FL; three adored grandchildren, Gianna Rella, Crystal Perachio, and Zach Brodesser; five cherished great grandchildren, Anna Petruny, Jonathan Petruny, Kaitlyn Perachio, Logan Perachio and Grayson Walter Cosgrove, as well as her daughter-in-law, Barbara Rella. In addition to his parents and wife, Rae of 59 years, Carlo was predeceased by his sister, Linda Bacon.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 12 p.m. in the Ralph Hull Funeral Home 161 W. Church St., Seymour CT 06483. Family and friends may call Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow in Mt. Meadows Cemetery, Seymour.
