Margaret M. (Hemingway) DiGiacomo, age 85, a resident of Derby since 1962, entered eternal rest on January 9, 2026, at Masonicare at Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton. She was the beloved wife of the late Giovanni B. DiGiacomo.
Born in Shelton on January 5, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Tekla (Comcowich) Hemingway. She attended the former St. Joseph Elementary School in Shelton. Margaret was employed as the business manager for Dresser Industries in Stratford for many years, until her retirement. She was kind hearted with a quick wit and a knack for bringing joy and laughter to everyone. Margaret loved to travel, especially with her family, frequenting places in the United States as well as Europe. She was also very content camping with her husband Giovanni in their motorhome. Margaret enjoyed trying her luck with trips to Mohegan Sun and Las Vegas. She had a compassion for animals and treated them all with kindness and love. In her earlier years, Margaret enjoyed playing the piano which she practiced with her father Irving. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, crocheting and knitting.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, a brother, David Hemingway of New Hampshire, sister-in-law, Anna Weitzler (Peter) of Ansonia, brothers-in-law, Salvatore DiGiacomo of Seymour, and Gerardo DiGiacomo of FL, along with many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Irving “Sonny” Hemingway, sisters-in-law, Consiglia Vozza, Giustina “Tina” Vanchot, Maria Rosario Rotondi and Nancy Hemingway and brothers-in-law, Antonio DiGiacomo, and Ettore DiGiacomo.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 9:00-10:00 am in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Her funeral will then proceed to Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Burial will immediately follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby.
