It is with great sadness that we announce Sebastian Fama, age 79, passed away peacefully with his wife and wonderful neighbors by his side on December 26, 2025. He left us way too soon and the world is a little dimmer without him.
His journey on this earth was one marked by love, laughter, kindness, adventure, and unwavering faith in God. His quiet strength was a blessing to his family and friends as he supported them through the best and worst of times.
Sebastian was born in Ansonia, Connecticut to Angelo and Rose Fama. He was raised in Ansonia along with his sister Roseann. He played football with his best friend Tony Lastauskas all through high school and continued in college. He worked at Yale New Haven Hospital for 37 years before retiring to Bluffton, South Carolina.
Sebastian was a loving and devoted husband to the love of his life Ann. They had many memorable adventures together and fully enjoyed spending time with family and friends in SC and CT.
He was an amazing son, brother, uncle, stepfather, and grandfather. He was fondly known as “Pop” to his tribe of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He made every one of them feel special and he was adored in return.
Sebastian was lucky to have incredible friends to share in his adventures. He considered many of them family. He was always eager to book a cruise, hit the golf course and watch a good game of football as he was a devoted Giants fan. He also enjoyed a friendly game of bocce and cribbage and all the socializing that went along with it. He was always happy to share a cup of his freshly ground and brewed coffee any time of day. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife Ann, Sebastian leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Paul Prosnick (Charmaine) of Seymour and Mark Prosnick of Oxford, daughter, Cary Ann Hodosi (William) of Shelton, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services previously took place in South Carolina. Sebastian will be privately entombed in Mount Saint Peter Mausoleum in Derby. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME ,62 Beaver Street in Ansonia is privileged to be assisting the family. To sign Sebastian’s guestbook or share a memory, please visit, www.spinelliricciutifh.com.
