Richard John Swetz, age 79, of Florida entered into rest peacefully on November 20, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of 26 years to Lynne (DeAngelis) Swetz. He was born in Derby on October 18, 1946 son of Cecelia (Bernal) Swetz and the late John Swetz. Richard was a long time resident of Oxford before moving to Florida when he retired. He owned and operated his own construction business for many years until his retirement. Richard loved to rebuild old Ford Woody Cars. He was always helping people with love, patience, kindness and was one of a kind.
He is the father of Lori Swetz of Shelton and Deana Swetz of Oxford, grandfather of Ricky Swetz and Alyssa Zavednak, great grandfather of Joey Villafane. He was predeceased by a sister Judith Desroches.
A memorial service will be held in St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St. Derby on Thursday January 22, 2026 at 11 AM. Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home 253 Elizabeth St. Derby are entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.adzimafh.com
