Monday, January 26, 2026 – Update

  1. We remind residents to not put snow from your property back on to city streets as it makes for a dangerous situation.
  2. If you live near a fire hydrant, please help our volunteers fire fighters by clearing the area  around the fire hydrant (3ft on each side) for the safety of your entire neighborhood.
  3. No trash or recycling pick up on Monday 01-26-26. All trash/recycling delayed one day all week.
  4. Snow Emergency Parking Ban is in effect until 4:00 pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
  5. Municipal Parking Garage is open for residents of downtown area to park their cars at no charge until Tuesday,  01-27-26 at -9 am.
  6. Derby Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

  1. No trash or recycling pick up on Monday 01-26-26.  All trash/recycling delayed one day all week.
  1. Derby City Hall, Derby Senior Center, and Derby Public Library are closed on Monday 01-26-26.
  1. Derby Public Schools are closed on Monday 01-26-26
  1. Snow Emergency Parking Ban is in effect pursuant to Ordinance adopted 12.11.25. Parking restricted to the even numbered side of all city streets until 36 hours after the storm ends.
  1. Municipal Parking Garage at 2 Thompson Place is open for residents of downtown area to park their cars at no charge until Tuesday,  01-27-26 at -9 am.
  1. Please stay off the roads during the storm.

7:05 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 24):

Update

1. Mayor Joseph DiMartino has declared a snow emergency beginning at 12:00 midnight on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

2. Parking will be restricted to the even numbered side of all city streets until 36 hours after the storm ends.

3. The Derby Municipal Parking Garage at 2 Thompson Place will be open for residents of the downtown area to park their cars during the storm at no charge until Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.

4. We ask that all non-emergency vehicles stay off the roads during the storm for your safety.

5. Due to the coming snowstorm, there will be no trash or recycling pick up on Monday January 26, 2026. Therefore, all trash and recycling will be delayed one day all week.

Come on in, make yourself comfortable, have some hot tea and enjoy the warmth. We’re here for you!

Derby Public Library is available during opening hours on Friday, January 23rd, from 9 am to 5 pm.

Anyone in need of overnight shelter is urged to call 211 or visit 211ct.org for a list of locations.
