SHELTON – Shelton police said they arrested a Bridgeport man in connection to a 2025 home invasion on Sunnyside Road.

Hipolito Rodriguez, 52, was charged Thursday (Jan. 29) with home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, first-degree robbery, and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery.

Police said additional arrests are expected.

According to a press release, police were called to a home on Sunnyside Road on Feb. 14, 2025, for a report of a home invasion involving two masked suspects armed with handguns.

The suspects demanded money and held the home’s owners at gunpoint for hours while they went through the house and stole watches, jewelry, and other valuables, according to the press release.

Police identified through surveillance footage a vehicle which had been reported stolen in Bridgeport in a similar incident, the release says.

Detectives from Shelton and Bridgeport identified Rodriguez as a suspect in both incidents.

Detectives found most of the Shelton homeowner’s jewelry in a storage unit rented by Rodriguez’ relative, police said. That jewelry was returned to the homeowner.

Rodriguez was initially arrested by U.S. Marshals and Bridgeport police on May 28 last year in connection to six different incidents, according to past reports.

Ansonia police also charged Rodriguez in June 2025 with stalking an ex-girlfriend and skipping court for months. That case remains pending.

Shelton police placed Rodriguez on a $350,000 bond. He is currently in custody.

Rodriguez’ next court date is Feb. 5, according to the state judicial website.
