Agnes L. Haviland-Moore, 78 of Ansonia passed away January 24th.
She was the wife of the late Robert W. Moore. She was born May 31, 1947 in Darien, daughter of the late Reed G. Haviland and Georgette Marie Verlooy Haviland.
She worked as church secretary and food pantry administrator for several local churches, including the former Immanuel Episcopal Church in Derby, The Immanuel Lutheran Church in Oxford, and The Trinity Episcopal Church in Seymour. For the latter, she wrote, edited and produced the parish newsletter.
She also worked as a freelance writer and journalist for the former Evening Sentinel, Valley Gazette, CT. Life, Speak Out Magazine, and several other publications.
Agnes was a member of The American Society of Journalists and Authors. She was also a former President of E.C.W. (Episcopal Church Women) and coordinator of several support groups, including the Cystic Fibrosis support group and the support group for the Desert Storm military family members.
She was also affiliated with various prayer shawl ministries. She enjoyed knitting and playing the piano, but she especially enjoyed the time spent with family. She was a warm, loving supportive presence, and she will be dearly missed. In addition to her children, many of her children’s friends called her “Mom.”
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Alex Moore of Ansonia and Ted Dottavio (Amy) of New Jersey, step-children Fred Moore of New York and Dottie-Jo Moore of Branford, and her brother Reed Haviland (Georgianna) of Terryville.
