Susan A. (Pitingoro) Nargi, age 73, a lifelong resident of Ansonia, entered eternal rest on February 3, 2026, at her home. She was the loving wife of fifty-one years to Robert T. Nargi, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and family.

Born in Derby on August 17, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Lucy (Nicoletti) Pitingoro. Susan earned her Master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University. She was employed as an English teacher at Ansonia High School for over twenty-five years until her retirement in 2020. Susan dedicated her life to education, touching countless lives with patience, compassion, and commitment. Teaching was not just her profession but her calling. She took pride in her students and remained deeply connected to her work even after retirement. Susan was a devout communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for many years. She served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister, as well as a member and past president of its Rosary Guild. She taught religious education and volunteered at their annual Italian Festa. She was an avid reader who loved getting lost in a good book, along with cross-stitching and shopping. She enjoyed good food, family recipes, and gathering around the table with loved ones. She especially loved traveling and vacationing with her family, which brought her great joy. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, sharing stories and making memories. Those who knew Susan will remember her as loving, thoughtful, selfless, and endlessly devoted to the people she loved. She had a fiery Italian spirit, a strong will, and a wonderful sense of humor that kept her family laughing. Susan spoke honestly, loved fiercely, and gave her whole heart to her family and friends.

Susan’s greatest legacy is the love she leaves behind in her husband, her daughters, her grandchildren, her friends, and in the many lives she touched as a teacher. She will be deeply missed, but her love, warmth, and spirit will live on forever.

In addition to her husband Robert, Susan leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Gina Mowad (John) of Terryville, CT and Lea Whipple (Kyle) of Virginia Beach, VA, sister, June Sweeney (Dennis) of North Haven, grandchildren, Haylee Mowad, Ava Whipple, and Lucy Whipple, nephew, Mark Sweeney (Michelle) of Wallingford, niece, Katie Oporto (Michael) of Monroe along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 12:00–3:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street, in Ansonia.
