Robert “Bob” Guluzzy, age 63, a lifelong resident of Derby, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Griffin Hospital. Born in Derby on December 12, 1962, he was the beloved son of the late Richard and Barbara (Farley) Guluzzy.
Bob grew up faithful in St. Mary’s Church, where his foundation of faith and community began. He started his career in the construction industry, specializing in sheet metal work. From there, he worked as a seasonal park ranger with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, and also served as a security officer at Griffin Hospital. He proudly dedicated 19 years to the United States National Guard and was a proud member of the Derby Fire Police. Bob also gave back to his community as a volunteer member of the Derby and Ansonia Fire Departments, most recently at Webster Hose in Ansonia, CT.
Bob found his greatest peace near the water. He loved to fish and spend time in nature, especially at Osbornedale State Park. Family vacations along the coast in Cape Cod brought him joy and lasting memories year after year.
Bob was also an avid animal lover. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs, and most recently cherished his late companions, Jake and Jackie, who brought him comfort, loyalty, and unconditional love.
He is survived by his daughter Karleen Guluzzy, his brother Michael Guluzzy (Donna), sisters Joanne Szwez (Tony) and Barbara Guluzzy, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may greet Bob’s family on Saturday February 21, 2026 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. His funeral service will follow at 11:30 am in the funeral home. His burial will be in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.adzimafh.com.
