Dennis M. Stanko, age 82 of Seymour, beloved husband of Judith (Bouvier) Stanko, entered peaceful rest on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 in Griffin Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on April 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Chopik) Stanko.
In addition to his loving wife Judy, of 56 years, survivors include his brother, James “Jimmy” Stanko and his wife Jo-Anne; sisters-in-law, Mary Stanko, and Jill Maillet and her husband Jackie; niece Donna D’Angelo, and nephews Robert Stanko, Justin Stanko, Jeffrey Stanko, James Stanko, Daniel Mailllet and Kevin Maillet, as well as gran-nieces and gran-nephews. Along with his parents, Dennis was predeceased by his siblings, Arthur Stanko, Anna Mae Cesaroni, and Ruth Weston.
Dennis grew up in Stratford where he met his wife and married before moving to Seymour. While teaching in the Shelton School System for 15 years, he became an EMT volunteer for the Seymour Ambulance Assoc., driving the ambulance and later the paramedic truck. After teaching, he went back to school to become a registered nurse specializing in mental health. Outside of work, Dennis enjoyed gardening, music, photography and caring for his pet cats, especially Honey Bunch.
Services celebrating Dennis’ life will be held at a date and time to be announced in the Church of the Good Shepherd (St. Nicholas Parish), Mountain Rd., Seymour. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dennis’ name can be made to an animal shelter or organization of your choise. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W.
