Andrew Michael Yezik, age 94, a lifelong resident of Ansonia, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of fifty-seven years to the late Lucille (LaRue) Yezik.
Born at home in Ansonia on November 12, 1931, he was the son of the late Stephen Joseph Yezik and Anna (Simon) Yezik. Andrew attended Ansonia and Pine High Schools before enlisting to serve his country in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1952. Following his discharge, he achieved an apprenticeship at Farrel-Birmingham Corporation in Ansonia as a machinist. He later went on to work for Anaconda and Ansonia Copper & Brass companies until his retirement. Andrew valued family and loved spending time together making memories. He was proud of his Polish heritage, enjoyed vacationing, especially to Cape Cod. Andrew could fix and build almost anything and used his skills to help his family and friends.
Andrew leaves to cherish his memory, his loving children, Debra McConnell of Ansonia, Karen Belden (Gary) of Derby, Michael Yezik of Ansonia, Audrey Horan (Tom) of Plantsville and Tony Yezik (Brandy) of Ansonia, sister, Alexandria Scaperotta of Trumbull, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Steven Lott and George Yezik and sisters, Mary (Lott) Rose, Estelle Lott, Helen (Lott) Evon, and Anne (Yezik) O’Connell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Andrew’s funeral on Thursday, March 12, 2026 by meeting directly at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Avenue in Derby, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Inurnment with United States Army military honors will immediately follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby.
