Peter M. Matejek, Sr., age 62, entered eternal rest on March 14, 2026, at Bridgeport Hospital.
Born in Derby on August 2, 1963, he was the beloved son of Shirley (Wanciak) Matejek of Derby and the late Peter P. Matejek. Peter resided in Derby for most of his life and was a graduate of Derby High School Class of 1981. He began his professional life employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation then transitioned to serve as a supernumerary police officer for the town of Derby. For many years, was the owner and operator of Advanced Home Improvement in Derby. Peter’s greatest love was his son Peter Jr., whom he referred to as the “heir to his throne.” They shared a love for warm weather and often daydreamed of moving back down south. Together they had a mutual affinity for motorcycles and fast cars. Peter’s second love was his corvette. He was a bit of a jokester and often kept his family entertained with his funny stories and crazy jokes. He loved to call his family members multiple times daily just to chat. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his mother, Shirley, Peter leaves to cherish his memory, his loving son, Peter M. Matejek Jr. (Lilly Uliano) of Derby, sisters, Dianne M. LaRovera (Joseph) of Seymour and Leslie Matejek of Derby, niece, Alex Bongiorno (Justin) of Seymour and Jake LaRovera of Seymour, companion, Cindy Pepe, friend, Christian Quinn of Guilford who was like a second son to Peter and family dog Baylie. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical ICU nurses at Bridgeport Hospital for their kind and compassionate care they showed to Peter over the last two months.
