Joseph R. Velleco, age 63, entered eternal rest on March 16, 2026, at Griffin Hospital in Derby.

Born in Derby on July 11, 1962, he was the son of the late Louis T. Velleco Sr. and Lovie (Spak) Velleco. Joe was a resident of a group home for many years where he built lasting friendships. He was a passionate music enthusiast with an affinity for rock and roll. Joe had a fascination for reading life stories, narratives, and the musical history of groups. He liked to spend time watching old movies, especially science fiction. Joe liked to follow the weather patterns and forecasts. Nothing brought more joy to him then a good meal prepared by his mom and her delicious dishes. Above all else, spending time with his family and making memories made Joe’s heart full. He will be lovingly missed.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his brother, William J. Velleco of Ansonia, nephews, Louis T. Velleco of Seymour and Nicholas J. Velleco of Shelton, niece, Denise Velleco of Ansonia, great-niece, Savannah Komar and sister-in-law, Risa Velleco of Seymour. He was predeceased by his brother, Louis T. Velleco Jr.

Joe’s funeral service and burial in Mountain Meadows Cemetery in Seymour will be private. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street has been privileged with the arrangements. To sign Joe’s guestbook or share a memory, please visit, www.spinelliricciutifh.com.
