Frank Heusser Sr., age 82, of Ansonia passed away on March 21, 2026. He was the loving husband of Dolores Bomba Heusser. Frank was born in Derby, CT, the son of the late Franklin and Clara DuBord Heusser.

After attending school in Shelton CT, Frank started his automotive career at Stellar’s garage at the age of 16, specializing in transmissions. Frank and Dolores opened Frank’s Service Station in 1969, proudly serving the Ansonia community for many years. After years of hard work and dedication, they officially retired in 2008 and passed the reins to Frank Jr. – though he could never stay away and continued to spend plenty of time visiting. Frank had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys, whether he was fishing, hunting, boating, or even trying to hit the ball straight on the golf course. It was not about the event itself, but the people he was with that made every moment truly enjoyable.  He loved spontaneous family vacations and enjoyed spending time in his home in Florida with his wife or visiting his nieces and nephews in Georgia. He had a deep passion for cars and a love for animals. Over the years, he took great pride in competing in tow truck shows along the East Coast, earning many first-place trophies along the way.  Frank never missed a trip to the Big E, a tradition he cherished. Above all else, what mattered most to him was his family.  It truly meant everything to him when the whole family came together.  He often shared how proud and grateful he was for his wife, children, and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Donna (Jorge) Tomas and Frank  (Tracey Chameides) Heusser Jr., his grandchildren, Brandon, Griffin and Jordon Tomas, his sister Joyce Garcia, his nephews and niece, Robert Hames, who was like a son to him, Robert Heusser,  Timothy Heusser, Frankie Heusser and Suzanne Heusser-Brown, as well as many other cherished nieces and nephews, and his sister-in-law Louise Heusser.  Frank was predeceased by his brothers Ronald (Louise) Heusser Sr. and Robert Heusser Sr, and his brother-in-law and best friend Charles Garcia.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the hospice staff of AccentCare and Griffin Hospital for their compassionate care and support.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Friday March 27th, from 4:00-7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday morning, his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30am for a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Dr, Ansonia, at 10:00am.
