ANSONIA – Firefighters responded to a car fire on Farrel Boulevard just after midnight Monday (March 30).

At around 12:13 a.m., firefighters received a report of a car on fire near the intersection of Farrel Boulevard and Birmingham Boulevard, down the road from the Farrel Pomini building.

Responders found a single car on the side of the road, fully engulfed in flames, as seen in the video below from the Eagle Hose & Hook & Ladder Co. 6 Facebook. In emergency radio broadcasts, firefighters described the fire as coming from a ruptured gas tank.

During the response, firefighters deployed a handline to get the blaze under control, according to a Facebook post from the Ansonia Fire Department.

Firefighters left the scene at around 1:04 a.m., according to radio broadcasts.
