Gary Louis DeAngelis, a 64 year old and Ansonia resident passed away on April 1 at Hewitt (Apple) Health and Rehab Center after a prolonged illness. 

Gary was the husband of Dawn Marie Silver DeAngelis and they had enjoyed 34 years of marriage.  Gary was born in Derby on May 7, 1961 to the late Ciro and Laura Tanner Koskelowski DeAngelis.

Gary graduated in 1983 from Southern Connecticut State University.  Gary spent his career until the time of his retirement due to his health as a social worker at several local non-profit agencies and proudly served as a board member for Connecticut Legal Rights Project.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his to cherish his memory daughter Emilee Laura Zhi DeAngelis of Ansonia, his brother Robert Koskelowski of Seymour, and sisters-in-law Constance Koskelowski of Shelton and Lynda Hooper (Dean) of Ogdensburg, N.Y., as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gary is predeceased by his 4 brothers Michael, Frank & Thomas Koskelowski and James DeAngelis, and sister-in-law Diana Koskelowski.

In lieu of flowers, Gary and his family request that any gifts made in his memory be directed to Bridges Healthcare, 949 Bridgeport Ave. Milford, CT, 06460. These donations will be directed towards the support of joint social outings and activities held by three social clubs (The Valley Social Club, Open Door Wellness Center and Options Social Club). 

These programs support the recovery of individuals with behavioral health and substance use and hold a special place in the hearts of Gary and his wife Dawn.  Gary’s family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at the DaVita Dialysis Center in Shelton, Hewitt Health and Rehab Center as well as the staff at The Valley Transit District for their care.
