Right now the tax board is considering a $51.2 million budget with a mill rate of 38.86.

This year the budget is being put together using new assessments from a state-mandated revaluation of all properties.

About 60 percent of the city saw assessments increase. The new mill rate means that the average property tax bill will increase by .75 percent next year.

The Board of Aldermen & Alderwomen voted to phase in the assessments over five years.
