Valley Restaurant Week Starts April 24 - Valley Independent Sentinel

THE VALLEY – Valley restaurants are preparing special menu items for Valley Restaurant Week, which kicks off April 24 and runs through May 2.

Michael Ferreira, the founder of It’s Restaurant Week, is working with the Greater Valley of Chamber of Commerce to launch the event.

“The Valley has some really good eateries that people should be experiencing,” Ferreira said. “A restaurant week is a great way to attract new people and those who haven’t been back for a while. It’s a win-win for both restaurants and the community. Restaurants will hopefully see more customers in their establishments and visitors can experience their offerings at a discounted rate.”

A total of 21 Valley restaurants in Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Seymour and Oxford will be participating. Shelton had its own restaurant week earlier this year.

Ferreira launched Southbury Restaurant Week five years ago and has since expanded the event to more than 30 towns across Connecticut.

Bill Purcell, president of the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, said he’s looking forward to Valley restaurant week.

“The Valley restaurant scene is growing with several new establishments opening or expanding,” Purcell said in a prepared statement. “Restaurant Week is the perfect way to celebrate and support these fine eateries and sample the wide variety of cuisines available in our region.”

In addition to enjoying a great meal at a great price, Ferreira said diners can also enter a giveaway to receive one of five prize packages, totaling more than $1,100 in gift cards.

Munch Eatery in Ansonia is taking part in the event. Manager Mikey Cotela said he’s excited to welcome both new customers and regular patrons during the event.

“We want to be a part of everything that celebrates or showcases the Valley,” Cotela said. “I think the community gets excited about the collaboration of local restaurants to offer specials and become more open to trying a place not normally on their radar. It creates a good opportunity to check out the place you’ve heard about.”
