Mary (Sheehan) Ward, age 84 of Texarkana, TX, and previously of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Robert Ward, entered peaceful rest on Sunday, May 3, 2026 in Texas with family by her side. Born in Mitchelstown Co. Cork, Ireland, on July 17, 1941, she was a daughter of the late James and Anne (O’Donoghue) Sheehan.

Mary immigrated to the United States, along with two of her siblings, at a young age in 1959. She became a naturalized US citizen in 1972 and resided in Seymour from 1965 through 2022 before moving to Texas. While in Connecticut, she was a secretary for the Knights of Columbus headquarters, located in New Haven and later became a pre-school teacher at Kiddie Kastle in Seymour for many years; a job she thoroughly loved. She loved children and would volunteer her time at Griffin Hospital, making beanie hats for newborn babies. Mary was proud of her Irish heritage and active in the East Haven Irish Community Center. A devout Catholic, Mary was a longtime parishioner of Good Shepherd Church in Seymour. She enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, playing cards with her ladies group, and was especially a proud grandmother to her successful grandsons.

Survivors include her loving children, Kevin Ward and his wife Michelle of TX, and Linda Ward Nolabel of OK; grandsons, Atty. Kyle Ward and Michael Ward, M.D.; siblings, Joan Lipp, Thomas Sheehan and his wife Noreen, Michael Sheehan and his wife Theresa; sister-in-law, Terry Sheehan, as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews. Mary’s family would also like to thank her dear friends and caregivers, Maggie Cruz, Maria Fonseca, and Maria Karas, whom she loved as family. In addition to her parents, and husband, Mary was predeceased by her oldest brother James Sheehan.
