With deep sorrow and sadness our family announces the passing of our brother, Richard B. Gallant, age 59, of Ansonia, CT. He died on June 9, 2026, at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Ritch was born in Bridgeport, CT on November 22, 1966. He was the youngest son of the late Anthony and Beverly Gallant of Rumford, ME.
Ritch was raised in Bridgeport and moved to Rumford with his family until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1985. He was a proud U.S. Naval Veteran serving as a Radio Man 3 rd class from 1985-1988. Following his honorable discharge, Ritch lived in California and Seattle, Washington for many years, before returning to Connecticut in 2012 to be closer to his family.
He is survived by his brother, David Gallant and his wife Kelley, and nephew Christopher Brown, all of West Haven, CT; a sister Debby Gallant, and nephew Tony Gallant of Dixfield, Maine. He is also survived by niece, Holly Stemphowski, her husband Mark and their children, Olivia & Chase Stemphowski, all of West Haven.
He will be fondly remembered as a good man, avid lover of music, and will be missed. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Connecticut Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
