DERBY — The Derby Neck Library is excited to announce “Murder at StarCon VII: The Wrath of Con”, its third annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater Fundraiser. The event is set for Friday, Oct. 23 at 5:00 p.m.
This immersive, adults-only evening will transport guests to StarCon VII, a fictional science-fiction convention riven by factional feuds and personal animosities. As fans of Trek and Wars face off, will the targ lie down with the tauntaun, or will the division sown by the Dark Side triumph?
Participants will view a short film to introduce the characters and crime while enjoying a delicious catered meal from Wellingtons Restaurant of Shelton. Afterwards, they will work to find clues in the library and solve the mystery.
Tickets are $40 per person and must be purchased in advance either in person at the Derby Neck Library circulation desk, or online via the Givebutter page.
Doors open at 5:00 p.m., with a strict cut-off for entry at 5:30 p.m. to ensure an uninterrupted viewing of the opening film. Suggested attire for this event is comic book, sci-fi, fantasy, or franchise costumes and merch. Imagine you are attending a science fiction convention and go all out!
If you find yourself getting stumped by all the twists and turns this mystery takes, don’t worry. We will be selling hints for $10 each. At the end of the night, guests will submit their prime suspect for the culprit. Those who guess correctly will be entered into a raffle drawing for a prize.
This year, our grand prize is two tickets to William Shatner’s tour “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan” at the Palace Theatre on Thursday, January 28th, 2027. Two runners-up will receive prize baskets with merch from the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises.
For those unable to attend but still wishing to support the library, donations can also be made through the Givebutter page, or local businesses may choose to purchase advertising space in the event program.
