SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Feb. 17, 2025 through Feb. 23, 2025.
It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.
Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.
Seymour police received 154 calls for service and made five arrests between Feb. 17, 2025 and Feb. 23, 2025.
FEB. 17, 2025
7:42 a.m. A Rider Avenue resident reported downed power/cable lines from house to pole in the street.
8:20 a.m. A resident reported there were low-hanging wires in the area of Bungay and Canfield roads. Police notified Eversource and Frontier.
1:40 p.m. Police received a 911 call from a Highland Avenue resident who reported that his girlfriend was highly intoxicated. She was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
7:54 p.m. A 911 hang-up call was received by police. Upon callback by police, caller said the call was accidental.
FEB. 18, 2025
1:01 a.m. Police responded to a medical call in the parking lot of a veterinary hospital on South Main Street.
4:27 a.m. A First Avenue resident called police about a truck horn continually going off in the neighborhood.
8:54 a.m. A caller reported that two large Akitas were walking in the road on Gilyard Street near Highland Avenue. Animal Control officer responded and owner was located.
11 a.m. A New Street resident told police a vehicle was parked in his handicapped spot without a handicapped sticker.
10 p.m. Police charged a 32-year-old Woodbridge man with third-degree criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, second-degree assault and third-degree assault.
10 p.m. Police charged a 27-year-old Woodbridge woman with third-degree criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, second-degree assault and third-degree assault.
FEB. 19, 2025
7:48 a.m. A caller reported that his car was struck by a garbage truck on Hine Street. No injuries were reported.
1:55 p.m. The general manager at Brown Roofing on Progress Avenue reported he received a fraudulent check.
4:56 p.m. Police responded to a call from an individual who said he was lost at Chatfield Park. Police located the individual and gave him a ride home.
4:59 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a car rollover accident on Skokorat Street. No injuries were reported.
FEB. 20, 2025
3:20 a.m. A report of a large tree limb hanging from tension wires on Holbrook Road was reported. Eversource was contacted.
4:27 p.m. Police were called to Southwest Road for a report of a low hanging wire blocking the road. Frontier was notified.
4:30 p.m. Police charged a 32-year-old Bridgeport man with second-degree breach of peace, violation of a protective order and third-degree assault.
6:05 p.m. A caller reported that a sick coyote was laying down and bobbing its head up and down in his neighbor’s yard on Summit Drive. The coyote was gone upon police arrival.
FEB. 21, 2025
1:11 a.m. Police responded to an alarm sounding at a business on Cogwheel Lane and determined a downed tree likely tripped the alarm.
9:06 a.m. Police received a complaint about a truck blocking the road at the intersection of New Haven Road/Route 67 and Silvermine Road. The truck was gone by the time police arrived.
11:50 a.m. A manager at Stop & Shop on Franklin Street reported that a $20 counterfeit bill had been received.
12:27 p.m. Police responded to a home on South Benham Road for a report of someone who accidentally got locked inside the attic of their home.
4:25 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Roberts Street. No injuries were reported.
FEB. 22, 2025
2:08 a.m. A 911 caller told police he thought he heard a gun shot in the Smith Street area. Police checked the area and found nothing.
2:22 a.m. A caller complained that a dirt bike or moped was riding up and down Deer Run Road multiple times and woke him up, Police checked and area and did not find the dirt bike or moped.
2:53 a.m. Police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle in the parking lot of the Sunoco Gas station on New Haven Road/Route 67.
3:48 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a resident who told police that her daughter was being harassed on social media by another student. Police said the school resource officer was notified.
FEB. 23, 2025
2:41 a.m. Police charged a 33-year-old Seymour man with third-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault.
2:46 a.m. Police assisted Connecticut State Police at the scene of a two-car crash on Route 8 north near Exit 18.
11:40 a.m. Police charged a 62-year-old Seymour woman with fifth-degree larceny.
1:21 p.m. A report of low-hanging wires across the road on South Benham Road was reported to police. Frontier was notified.
5:57 p.m. Police received a complaint about a group of youths running back and forth on New Haven Road/Route 67 near the Henny Penny/Shell Gas station.
6:27 p.m. A caller reported that his sibling was being harassed by phone and text messages.
