A Derby man faces four criminal charges after allegedly ramming his vehicle into a police car.

Police said they received a report of suspicious activity at about 11 p.m. June 25 in the area of Cemetery Avenue, off Hawthorne Avenue.

Police said when they tried to pull over a vehicle, the driver attempted to speed away. The vehicle struck a marked police car, police said.

The vehicle’s driver was identified as Horace Sanders, 28.

He is charged with two felony counts of assault on a police officer, engaging police in a pursuit and reckless driving.

Sanders posted a $75,000 bond and is due in court July 8.

  1. This is more bad news from the West Side of Derby, on top of shootings, a stabbing, and other crime activity in nearby Hawkins Street., which is definately not, “a drug free zone!”

The drug-crowd-element, apparently, now has a strong foot-hold in Derby.
