Received a note from the Derby fire department this morning, which we are passing along.
Firefighters all over the Valley are asking for help to dig out fire hydrants.
It’s taking firefighters anywhere from five to 10 minutes to even find the hydrants buried in the snow mounds.
It’s apparently a Valley-wide issue.
So if you know there’s a fire hydrant near you, firefighters are asking you to lend a hand and dig it out.
Generally, firefighters need three feet cleared on all sides of a hydrant.
If you dig ‘em out, feel free to post the before and after pics on our Facebook page!

I saw several fire trucks in the past 3 storms(one stuck) out in snow storms passing fire hydrants. I am not sure what they were doing, but they were not on a response to a fire or accident either. Maybe training for how to drive in snow? however, if that is the case stop and clean them off as your driving past them. If they have time to practice driving they can stop and clean them.
