Philomena DiMauro, age 97, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Bishop Wicke Health Center. She was the devoted wife of the late Lawrence DiMauro. Philomena was born in Shelton on September 28, 1927, daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (Malesky) Savarese, and lived most of her life in Shelton. She lived in Florida for over 30 years but returned home seven years ago to be with family.

Philomena worked as the office manager for the Hearing Center of Ansonia before her retirement. She was very social and loved talking with friends and family. She enjoyed crafts, needlepoint, and playing bingo, and was a member of the Kissimmee Elks.

She is the beloved mother of Christine Alcutt (Richard) and Dee DiMauro, cherished grandmother of Jessica Alcutt Simonetti (Joseph), Michael Alcutt (Stephanie), and Cathy Frey, and proud great-grandmother of Michael, Aria, Verena, Madison, Evelynn, and Lillian. She also leaves her “Florida Family”, Danny and Nan Sexton and several nieces and nephews. Philomena was predeceased by two grandsons, R.J Frey and Robert Frey, her brother Thomas Savarese, Jr., and her sister, Florence Rudoff.

Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Sunday from 3 to 5 PM. On M

Monday her procession will leave the parlor at 10:30 for her funeral at 11 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Shelton. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.Memorial contributions are requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
