
SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Aug. 4, 2025 through Aug. 11, 2025.
It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.
Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.
Seymour police received 361 calls for service and made five arrests between August 4, 2025 and August 11, 2025.
AUG. 4, 2025
5:46 a.m. A North Street resident told police someone was shouting in the area of Garden Street. Police checked the area and did not find anyone.
3:47 p.m. Police received a report about a rooster on the loose on Washington Avenue. The animal control officer was notified to try to locate the owner.
3:56 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on Bank Street.
6:37 p.m. A Skokorat Street resident told police a solicitor for a pest control company knocked and her door and started recording her when she told him she was not interested in the service. The solicitor left on a scooter. An officer checked the area and could not locate the solicitor.
8:46 p.m. A caller reported that four kids were standing on the yellow line in the road near Jay Lane and Colony Road and she was concerned for their safety. The kids seemed “out of it” and may have been smoking marijuana, according to the caller. An officer said the kids were gone upon their arrival.
AUG. 5, 2025
6:10 a.m. Police charged a 45-year-old Seymour man with third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree breach of peace, third-degree assault and violation of a protective order.
8:23 a.m. A Buckingham Road resident told police someone backed into her car while it was parked.
11:29 a.m. A Bank Street business owner told police someone was parked in front of his store overnight in the parking spot designated for two-hour parking.
6:24 p.m. A Botsford Road resident told police someone opened a student loan account under his name.
7:13 p.m. Police charged a 46-year-old Seymour man with violation of probation.
9:27 p.m. A caller told police someone in a mini van was driving erratically in the area of Great Hill Road. Police said the van was gone upon their arrival.
AUG. 6, 2025
5:29 a.m. An anonymous caller told police people were playing basketball at the Balance Rock apartment complex’s basketball court during ‘quiet hours,’ and were in violation of the noise policy. An officer said the people were visiting with family and were advised of the noise ordinance, and there were no further issues.
7:48 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident on New Haven Road (Route 67).
9:19 a.m. Police received a walk-in complaint about a large piece of steel in the road near Roosevelt Drive and Argonne Terrace.
1:12 p.m. Police assisted a driver on Maple Street after one of her tires blew out.
3:55 p.m. Police were called to a medical emergency on Emery Street.
5:05 p.m. A 911 caller told police a loose dog was roaming near Cedar and West streets. Police said they could not locate the dog.
AUG. 7, 2025
8:23 a.m. Police received a call for assistance for a tractor trailer stuck that was stuck under the trestle near Maple and South Main streets.
10:54 a.m. A Westerman Avenue resident told police someone drew graffiti on their retaining wall.
2:57 p.m. Police were called about a downed tree in the middle of Old Ansonia Road. Police said the homeowner was chopping up small trees and some branches got into the road.
4;15 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Bungay Road.
7:41 p.m. Police received a call about a female walking along New Haven Road (Route 67) who appeared distraught. An officer checked the area and could not locate the woman.
8:15 p.m. Police charged a 38-year-old Bridgeport man with interfering with an officer and resisting arrest.
AUG. 8, 2025
12:51 p.m. A 911 caller told police two females were fighting in a parking lot on North Street. An officer said the parties involved did not want to file a complaint.
4:26 p.m. An employee of Henny Penny gas station told police someone drove off with a gas pump attached to their car.
4:49 p.m. Police conducted radar enforcement on Maple Street.
8:03 p.m. Police received a complaint about a man wearing a red shirt and no shoes yelling at cars in the area of Great Hill and Country Club roads. An officer said the man was returned back to his home.
11:29 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Bank Street.
AUG. 9, 2025
11:57 a.m. A Stoddard Street resident told police a solicitor was bothering her. Police advised the solicitor that he had to obtain a permit from town hall.
12:46 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Walter Road.
2:54 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Deerfield Road and Glen Circle.
6:08 p.m. A Colony Road resident told police she and her husband are receiving harassing phone calls.
8:46 p.m. Police conducted radar enforcement on Great Hill Road. No motor vehicle violations were issued.
10:10 p.m. Police charged a 40-year-old Naugatuck man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
AUG. 10, 2025
3:44 p.m. Police conducted radar enforcement for about 20 minutes on Holbrook Road and made one motor vehicle stop.
4;10 p.m. Police conducted radar enforcement for about 20 minutes on Roosevelt Drive and made no motor vehicle stops.
6:19 p.m. A caller requested assistance from police in making a report about a custody dispute.
7:29 p.m. Police received several complaints from Great Hill Road residents about a large number of people gathered outside and playing loud music and were parked on several neighbors’ properties. An officer said the music was lowered and the cars parked on other people’s properties were moved.
AUG. 11, 2025
12:55 a.m. A Colony Road resident reported loud music coming from a home in the area.
7:43 a.m. Police issued a verbal warning to a driver on Fox Drive.
8 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on Holbrook Road.
11:26 a.m. Police charged a 34-year-old Naugatuck man with second-degree breach of peace.
