Fiacco

SEYMOUR – Police charged a 46-year-old resident July 8 with first-degree possession of child sexual abuse material.

The suspect, Peter Fiacco, is free on a $55,000 bond pending an Aug. 7 appearance in Superior Court in Derby.

Police said they started an investigation into Fiacco after receiving information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a national network of law enforcement personnel who investigate crimes against kids.

The investigation resulted in several search warrants for Fiacco’s electronic equipment, where police said they found “numerous video files containing underage minors, naked, posing in different positions, that were uploaded and downloaded” by Fiacco, according to Seymour Police Chief John Bucherati.

“We traced the images back to this suspect,” Bucherati said. “He had phones, computers, tablets and hard drives, all of which are being processed at this point. One phone had several thousand images of suspected child pornography.”

A lawyer for Fiacco was not listed on the state’s judicial website.
