SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from May 5, 2025 through May 11, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.

Seymour police received 268 calls for service and made three arrests between May 5, 2025 and May 11, 2025.

MAY 5, 2025

9:46 a.m. State Police Troop A told police a white male with curly hair was pointing a fake gun at passing vehicles on Roosevelt Drive. The man admitted to police that he was making a ‘finger gun’ and was fed up because cars were coming into his lane. He told police he would stop doing it.

10:53 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident on Great Hill Road/Southwest Road. No injuries were reported but police said 25 feet of guardrail was damaged.

1:35 p.m. A Maple Street resident told police her mother “trashed” her home, including her TV and poster room.

9:21 p.m. Police charged a 30-year-old Naugatuck man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, failure to drive in the proper lane and operating a motor vehicle while using a handheld telephone/electronic device.

10:37 p.m. An employee of the Henny Penny gas station on New Haven Road told police someone came into the store and stole a full tray of lighters.

MAY 6, 2025

12:27 a.m. A Bissell Place resident told police he saw a transformer spark and saw a small flame coming from it.

12:22 p.m. Police received a report about a roaming dog on Old Ansonia Road.

1:29 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident at Bank and Wakeley streets. No injuries were reported.

7:24 p.m. Police assisted ambulance crew with an unresponsive man at the train station downtown, who was transported to the hospital.

8:22 p.m. A resident lodged a complaint with police that her ex-boyfriend was posting photos of her on social media.

MAY 7, 2025

12:15 a.m. Police charged a 57-year-old Seymour man with voyeurism, dissemination of voyeurism material, dissemination of intimate image to one person and disorderly conduct.

8:00 a.m. An Eleanor Drive resident reported she was the victim of an online scam.

2:02 p.m. A resident told police his moped was damaged due to the condition of the road on Bungay Road.

2:41 p.m. An employee from Daddio’s told police a check they sent out appeared to have been washed and someone tried to cash it at multiple locations.

4:53 p.m. Police charged a 59-year-old Seymour man with evading responsibility/injury/damage to property and illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

5:01 p.m. A Spruce Brook resident reported his neighbor was harassing him over a property line dispute.

6:54 p.m. A Beach Street resident lodged a complaint about someone stealing his tools.

MAY 8, 2025

4:19 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident at Spruce Street and New Haven Road. No injuries were reported.

8:29 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Bungay Road.

3:20 p.m. A resident reported she was the victim of fraud. She told police her business bank account may have been compromised because checks were being written without her consent or knowledge.

5:50 p.m. A caller told police he was concerned about a large black GMC Denali parked in a handicapped parking space without displaying a handicapped placard. Police said the driver provided proper paperwork and there was no issue.

8:01 p.m. A caller told police a man wearing a grey track suit left the Stop & Shop parking lot on Franklin Street with two shopping carts. Police said the man may have boarded the bus or train downtown. The two shopping carts were located at the bus stop near the train station.

MAY 9, 2025

8:17 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle on Roosevelt Drive.

11:20 a.m. A 911 hang-up call was received from Seymour Middle School. The school resource officer reported there was no issue.

8:40 p.m. Police received a complaint about a man wearing a black hoodie and carrying a backpack who was looking through cars in the area of New and Hill streets. Police located the man who said he was using his cell phone to try to locate his debit card he lost on New Street.

MAY 10, 2025

1:22 a.m. Police received a complaint about four individuals walking around the Greenway Park on Wakeley Street after-hours.

1:56 p.m. A South Benham Road resident reported a minor motor vehicle accident on private property at the Red Clover Farm.

2:57 p.m. A Moss Avenue resident reported a go-kart crash involving a minor. The caller told police two brothers were riding a go-kart and a dirt bike in their backyard and crashed into each other. Both were sent to the hospital for their injuries.

4:38 p.m. A caller told police she left her cell phone in an Uber and tracked it to Seymour. The Uber driver returned the phone to the police department.

MAY 11, 2025

5:31 a.m. A Chamberlain Road resident complained about loud noise in the area that was keeping her family awake.

7:30 a.m. Police received a 911 call about a man passed out or sleeping in his car in the Tri-Town Plaza. The man told police he was resting.

11:53 a.m. A Skokorat Street resident told police someone broke into his car overnight and stole some items.

1:29 p.m. A West Church Street reported a water leak in the road. Police notified the public works department and said the water could be coming from a spring under a pothole.

4:06 p.m. A Third Avenue resident told police he found a dog named Luna wearing a tag near his home. The resident brought the dog to the police department, where it was reunited with its owner.
