DERBY — Police said they arrested a city resident who tried to run away from them Oct. 4.

According to a Facebook post from the Derby Police Department, officers went to Shagbark Drive to find Thomas Passander, 44, who had a warrant out for his arrest for drug and weapons charges stemming from an incident in July.

Passander ran when he saw police, then resisted arrest after officers caught up with him, police said. He was also charged with three misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest.

Passander is due in court Oct. 16.

He was initially held on bonds totalling $95,000 but was released from custody after posting professional surety bonds.
