Kathleen Mary O’Connell, age 83 of Oxford, entered peaceful rest on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Yale New Haven Hospital with family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on December 5, 1942, she was the devoted daughter and loving care giver of the late Howard and Lillian (Marsh) O’Connell.
Kathy grew up in Bridgeport but was a longtime resident of Oxford. A 1960 graduate of Seymour High School, Kathy worked for SNET, Farrell Corp., Aetna, Oxford Healthcare, and Birmingham Group. Kathy was very involved in the Oxford Community, time at the Oxford Town Hall, Oxford Poll Worker, Oxford Senior Center, Oxford Housing Authority and Tenant Association. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, a member of Our Lady of Calvary in Farmington, CT, and a dedicated parishioner, past Cantor and past president of the Ladies Guild of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford, where she truly enjoyed singing in the choir. Family and friends will especially remember her fondly as an avid craft person and as being a “Plastic Canvas Master”. Kathy loved traveling throughout the world with her friends, on cruise ships whenever possible. She always enjoyed spending time with her friends and met her high school classmates once a month for lunch. Kathy loved life.
Kathy is survived by her brother, Michael O’Connell and his life partner Nancy Rogers, of Oxford. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, John and Thomas O’Connell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 11am DIRECTLY in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd. Oxford, CT 06478. Interment will follow in Southford Cemetery, Oxford. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 3pm to 6pm in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kathleen’s name can be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
