Joseph Zampano, age 84, of Shelton, entered into rest on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Griffin Hospital. He was the devoted husband of 60 years of the late JoAnn (Dechio) Zampano.Joseph was born in Derby on January 21, 1941, son of the late Pasquale and Lena (Cimino) Zampano, and he was a lifelong Shelton resident.
He proudly served his country with the US Marine Corps. Joseph earned his Associate’s Degree from UNH and served as an Officer in the Shelton Police Department from 1967 through 1988. He then transferred to become an Inspector for the State of Connecticut Criminal Court, a position he held until 2003. Joseph enjoyed trips to the casino and loved vacations and spending time with his cherished family and his Marine Corps family.
He is the beloved father of Joseph Zampano Jr. and his wife Maria, and very proud grandfather of Matthew Zampano. He also leaves four sisters, Sandra, Patricia, Margaret, and Linda, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Dennis.
The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, is entrusted with his funeral arrangements, with Full Military Honors, which are private.
