A 60-Minute Contemporary Political Thriller by Valley Shakespeare Festival
Plumb Memorial Library will host the VSF2U Professional Mobile Tour from Valley Shakespeare Festival, featuring a high-impact, 60-minute adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. The performance will take place on , Wednesday, May 27 at 6:00 at the Plumb Memorial Library at 65 Wooster Street in Shelton.
Directed by Executive Producer Tom Simonetti, the production reimagines Shakespeare’s Roman tragedy as a sharply focused modern political thriller. Performed by a company of paid, professional actors in contemporary dress, the tour is designed specifically for schools and community venues, allowing Shakespeare’s language, characters, and political urgency to take center stage.
The streamlined 60-minute format heightens the momentum of the play’s central conspiracy while making the production ideally suited for class periods, assemblies, and community programming. Through precise ensemble work and physical storytelling, the VSF2U tour delivers a clear, engaging, and artistically rigorous theatrical experience.
“Rather than presenting Julius Caesar as a distant historical epic, this production treats it as a live political drama,” said Simonetti. “The shortened format allows audiences to engage fully with the story’s stakes and relevance, while maintaining the integrity and power of Shakespeare’s text.”The VSF2U Professional Mobile Tour reflects Valley Shakespeare Festival’s commitment to expanding access to professional classical theatre by bringing high-quality productions directly into educational and community settings. Each performance is carefully crafted to adapt to its venue while maintaining professional standards of performance and presentation. The production is free to the public.
