Edward Konnik, age 88 of Seymour, beloved husband of Dorothy (Waldron) Konnik, entered peaceful rest on Friday, May 15, 2026 in his home surrounded by family. Born in Dickson City, PA, on January 1, 1938, he was a son of the late Edward and Sally (Yezierski) Konnik.
It was his loving wife Dorothy of 65 years whom he was devoted to. Their storybook romance started in high school – as a star three sport athlete and a cheerleader for the Seymour Wildcats. He returned in his adult years to coach baseball, as well as volunteering and serving the community in various other capacities. Ed was a member of the Great Hill Country Club and various other golf leagues with his buddies and his grandson Hunter, winning numerous championships. He also enjoyed going down South to play golf with the guys of the family. Ed enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and sitting around the dining room table for family dinners. He also enjoyed snowmobiling trips in Maine and family vacations to Lake George and the Poconos. He was fondly remembered as βTexβ by many friends and family following his riding days in his younger years.
A retired detective for the Seymour Police Dept., Mr. Konnik began his career as a Patrol Officer (1982-1989), Detective/Youth Officer – Accredited DARE Officer (1989 – 1996) and finally the Third Shift Patrol Sergeant – Commander of the night shift for the Seymour Police Department (1996 – 2003). He graduated with honors from Seymour High School, Class of 1955, the Municipal Police Training Academy β in 1982, and finally the Mattutuck Community College β Class of 1986 with an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
In addition to his loving wife, Dorothy, Edward is survived by his three children, Sheryl Konnik (William Colburn) of Oxford, Laura Konnik Cripps (John Cripps) of Seymour, and Paul Konnik (Heather Konnik) of Garner, NC; four adored grandchildren, Hunter Cripps of Seymour, Sierra Cripps of Simsbury, Jenna Myers of San Diego, CA, and Ava Colburn of Oxford. In addition to his parents, Edward was predeceased by his twin siblings, Robert Konnik and Roberta Konnik Fitzpatrick. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 10 am in the Church of the Good Shepherd (St. Nicholas Parish) 135 Mountain Rd.
