Janice L. DelMastro, 78, passed away on May 19, 2026 in Griffin Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Janice was born on October 23, 1947 in Jackson Heights, N.Y. to the late Leonard and Edith (Plue) Hopton. She grew up in Shelton before spending the past 50 plus years in Monroe with Thomas, her devoted husband of 56 years.
Janice, known as “Janie” to friends and family, was a Licensed Practical Nurse for more than 40 years (25 years at Southbury Training School). She enjoyed their yearly trips to Florida, gardening and feeding the ducks, but above all else she loved spending time with her family.
Janice is survived by her husband, Thomas DelMastro, her son Michael DelMastro and his wife Kivia, her daughter Tammie Salvas, grandchildren, Jesse and Emily Salvas, four sisters: Lenore Russo, Marie Carchia, Joanne Leonard, Diane Ramsey and several nieces and nephews.
Her memorial service will be held on Friday, May 29th, at 1:00 pm in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 175 Old Tannery Rd. Monroe. Following her service, the family would like to invite everyone to continue her celebration of life at the Washington Lodge 19 A.F. & A.M., 1 Fan Hill Rd. Monroe.
