Cosmo Bufi, age 81, entered eternal rest on August 4, 2026, at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Giuseppina (Vaiana) Bufi.
Cosmo was born in Molfetta, Bari, Italy, on January 1, 1945, son of the late Pantaleone and Luigia (Mazzone) Bufi. He immigrated to the United States in 1968 and resided in Ansonia where he raised his family. He was employed as the Lead Man in final assembly at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for thirty-three years until his retirement in 2012. Cosmo loved to garden. He took great pride in growing his bountiful fruits and vegetables and sharing them with his family and others. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Cosmo leaves to cherish his memory, son, Daniele Bufi of Ansonia, daughters, Gina M. Proto (Ronald) of East Haven and Lisa Bufi of Ansonia, brothers, Giovanni and Antonio Bufi both of Italy, grandchildren, Marcello Proto, Antonio Proto, Giovanni Proto, Cosmo Bufi, Martin Eaton, Joseph Eaton, Nadia Bufi and Daniel Bufi, brother-in-law, Natale Giaimo (Biagia) of Ansonia, sisters-in-law, Giovanna Zeppegno of FL, Gina Giaimo of FL and Domenica Izzo (Joseph) of Ansonia, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and canine buddy Elli. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Giuseppe Vaiana.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 9:00-10:30 am in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. His funeral will then proceed to Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
