Jeffrey J. Sember, age 66, unexpectedly entered eternal rest on August 26, 2026, at his home in Seymour. He was the loving husband of twenty-seven years to Maxine (Valonis) Sember.
Born in Derby on October 22, 1959, he was the beloved son of Jean (Lawrence) Sember of Ansonia and the late John “Jack” Sember. Jeffrey was raised in Ansonia. He graduated from Assumption Grammar School, Notre Dame High School in West Haven and Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, where he attained his Associate’s degree. After college he relocated to Boston and managed a music and book store. After several years, he moved back to the Valley area, and worked alongside his father at the former G&R Deli in Ansonia. He later was employed as a travel agent for Worldtek Travel in New Haven for several years. Jeffrey was a skilled wood burning artist who turned plain pieces of wood into life, using the detailed art of pyrography. He crafted a rich collection of hand-crafted wooden treasures, including signs and home decor, that he enjoyed sharing with friends and family. He was a voracious reader and a golf enthusiast. Jeffrey was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, the New York Giants and the New York Rangers. He was also a collector of baseball cards.
In addition to his wife, Maxine and mother, Jean, Jeffrey leaves to cherish his memory, step-son, Joseph Cardella III (Marcy) of Myrtle Beach, SC, step-daughter, Diana Greco (Corey) of Seymour, brother, Scott Sember (Terri) of FL, sister, Lynette Glynn (Michael) of FL, grandchildren, Taya Cardella, Zoey Greco and Wyatt Greco, sister-in-law, Donna (Giusto) Sember of Naugatuck, brother-in-law, Robert Valonis (Shirley) of FL, Godson, Jimmy Norris, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Gregory M. Sember and his canine buddy, Munson.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 9:00-10:30 am in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. His funeral will then proceed to the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff Street in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will be private.
