Walter Fedor Alcutt, 64, of Ellington, beloved husband of 38 years to Julia Ayn (Bednarz) Alcutt, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 24, 2025. He was born on February 22, 1961, in Bridgeport, only son to Richard J. and Susanne (Fedor) Alcutt.
Walter grew up in Shelton, attended local schools and was a graduate of Shelton High School, Class of 1979. Following high school, he continued his education receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Bridgeport as well as his master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic University. He dedicated his entire 42-year career to the Raytheon Technologies (formerly United Technologies) community. He began in 1983 as a system programmer, subsequently specializing in infrastructure and cyber defense.
Walter was a lifelong sports fan, whose devotion to the New England sports teams was unwavering. He also found great joy in supporting the New Britain Bees, holding season tickets with his close friend since 2017. For Walter, sports weren’t just about the games — they were about the people, the memories, and the shared moments of excitement.
An avid golfer, Walter cherished every round, but it was the camaraderie that mattered most to him. Whether with close friends or new faces, the joy of conversation and connection was always at the heart of his game. Walter was a conversationalist who would make friends with everyone, anywhere, and could find something in common with everyone he met. His warm spirit and endless stories made him a friend to all.
Walter was incredibly proud of his family. He loved talking about his sons and daughters-in-law, often sharing their achievements with anyone who would listen. He took great pride in being their biggest cheerleader. Becoming a grandfather was one of the greatest joys of Walter’s life. He treasured every moment with his grandson, and no visit was complete without his signature “poking his belly” time, which always brought laughter and smiles. Watching his grandson grow was a source of endless pride, and he loved sharing every milestone with those around him.
A lover of home improvement, Walter was always eager to take charge of a project, whether it was fixing up his home or helping others improve theirs. He loved being the manager of a project and could often be found offering advice or lending a hand. Walter also enjoyed the simpler pleasures of life, like game nights, where his competitive spirit shone through, and his love for a perfectly brewed Colombian coffee, especially when paired with a hearty breakfast. Those small moments, whether spent with family or friends, always held a special place in his heart.
Above all, Walter was a family man. While we may no longer hear his voice or feel his presence in the same way, his impact will forever be felt. His laughter, his stories, and his passion for life will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his two sons, Andrew Richard Alcutt and his wife Alora Nichole Alcutt of Derry, NH, and Nicholas Walter Alcutt and his wife Viviana Carolina Zambrano Rodriguez, Ph.D., of Irmo, SC; and his grandson, Bennett Maximiliano Alcutt Zambrano.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 3-6 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd. South Windsor. There will be no formal service and at the request of his family, burial will be held privately.
