Bertha “Bert” (Kurtyka) Belden, age 90 of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday September 18, 2026 in Griffin Hospital. She was the devoted wife of the late State Representative Richard “Dick” O. Belden.
She was born in Shelton on March 13, 1936, daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Golob) Kurtyka and was a lifelong Shelton resident.
Bert was an Administrator for Viking Tool Company for many years until her retirement. She liked to sew and make afghans, and spend time with her family.
She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Voytek and Eleanor Byanski. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Griffin Hospital for their care and compassion for Bert.
Friends may call on Friday Sept. 25, 2026 from 4 to 7 pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. On Saturday, friends may greet the family from 9 to 10 am followed by her funeral service at 10 am in the parlor. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Hospital, 130 Division St. Derby, CT 06418.
