High School Students residing in the Towns of Ansonia, Seymour and Oxford were asked to write an essay utilizing the motto of Rotary International – “SERVICE ABOVE SELF” – each applicant was asked to submit a 500-word essay that addresses this theme.
The essay needed to reflect its personal meaning to each student, relating it to personal experience and articulate the importance of service in life and community, state or throughout the world. Each student will receive a $1000 award.
And the winners are:

Anahita Ghavami – Oxford High School – undecided
Shea Staunton – Seymour High School – attending Southern CT State University Fall 2025
Students are invited to attend a future AnSeOx Rotary meeting to share their essay and talk about their future endeavors with club members.
